Complimentary colours

artinchester000

On a recent walk with my camera and two little faithful dog friends I caught this photograph of rose hips set against the vivid greens surrounding it.

It's a great illustration of how red and green intensify their colour saturation when placed next to each other. They are known as complimentary colours

( colour wheel opposites ) and when used carefully can be a wonderful tool to use in painting. Take a look at the impressionists and see if you can spot this.
