With the spring comes longer days and greater sunlight, effecting how our environment appears around us. Colours appear more vivid with stronger light and shadows are more contrasting.
It is well worth observing the same scene through the seasons and at different times of day. This will teach you to notice the effect of light on how things appear. Are they sharp edged or soft edge? Are they intense or faded? Do they have strong shadows and highlights?
This is useful in all art practices as it will help you to not only depict life better but also design how you want your work to feel. Have a look at the two pots below, how do they feel?

The other great thing to take note of is type of light - natural / yellow / white/ flame / electric ? Let’s compare an impressionist piece with a Dutch golden age piece …What is fundamentally different about them?
